Non-profit youth basketball in the Santa Clarita Valley
SCV Magic is a new non-profit basketball team in the Santa Clarita Valley, starting with 12U girls. Our goals: positive people, great teammates and winning basketball.
Next up 12U Girls Practice: Tue, Oct 20, 6:30 to 8 PM
Interested in joining?
We are not holding tryouts right now. If your child might want to play for SCV Magic, let us know. The more families we hear from, the sooner we can add teams and coaches.
Upcoming dates
Our practices are open. Come join us and see how it fits. Add any date to your phone.
New dates are on the way. Send us a note and we will let you know when they are posted.
What we stand for
Not how many teams we field or how much money comes in. These three, in every practice and every game.

Positive people
We ask players to listen when a coach is talking, thank the referees and help put the balls away. We practice those habits like layups: on purpose, until they stick. Mistakes get a correction and another rep, not a lecture.

Great teammates
We praise the extra pass, the screen that frees a shooter and the first player to help a teammate up. Those count as much as points. In games, we want the bench loud for whoever is on the court.

Winning basketball
We want to win, and we teach what winning takes: footwork, defense, spacing and making the right read. Every practice has a plan. The goal is a team that is hard to play against and fun to play on.

Why SCV Magic
One team, on purpose. We are starting with a single 12U girls team so every player is known by name and by what she is working on.
Coaching, not just court time. We want every girl to get real teaching at every practice, whether she starts or comes off the bench.
Non-profit, and it matters. SCV Magic is run for its players, not for profit, so our decisions start with what is good for the girls.
Winning still counts. We keep score and compete hard, and we think teams that share the ball and trust each other win more.
Friends she keeps. We want practices she looks forward to, parents who know each other and teammates she is still friends with years from now.
Room to be twelve. We think basketball should fit into her life, with time for school, rest, friends and other sports.
Coaches
The people who will be in the gym with your daughter. All three grew up here and played basketball at Saugus High. And yes, they are family.
First look
Our game jerseys are reversible: teal on one side, black on the other, with the SCV Magic logo across the chest. Every player wears the same one.

For parents
We are new, and we will not pretend otherwise. Here is what we are putting in writing.
We will coach every player, not just the top of the roster.
We will tell you honestly where your daughter stands and what she is working on.
We will hold players to a high standard and never embarrass a kid to get there.
We will share fees, the practice schedule and the season plan before you commit to anything.
Growing one team at a time
We plan to add more age groups and boys teams, one at a time. Have a player in another age group, or want to help out? Tell us and we will keep you posted.
Questions parents ask
If the honest answer is "we do not know yet," we say so. Anything else, ask us.
Not right now. Our practices are open, though, so come join us and see how it fits. The dates are on the calendar page. You can also tell us about your player and we will be in touch. Players our coaches have already invited to the team can register here.
We are starting with a 12U girls team. If you are not sure whether your child's age or experience is a fit, tell us about your player and we will give you a direct answer.
It means SCV Magic is run for its players, not to turn a profit. That shapes our choices, from how fast we grow to how we coach. If you want to know more about how the team is run, ask us. We will tell you.
We will walk families through fees, and exactly what they cover, before anyone commits. We would rather give you real numbers in person than a rough guess here.
Herman Milan and Bobby Milan coach the team. Both have played basketball their whole lives and have coached for years. Lelanie Reonal is the team manager. All three grew up here and played basketball at Saugus High. You can read about them on the coaches page, and you can ask them anything, including their background, their training and how they handle playing time. Those are fair questions for any team your daughter joins, and you will get plain answers.
Most practices are in an indoor gym in Santa Clarita. Now and then we may practice outdoors instead, when a gym is not available or on a conditioning day. Right now the team practices on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8 PM at La Mesa Junior High School, 26623 May Way, Santa Clarita, CA 91351. Families thinking about joining are welcome to come. Gym dates sometimes change, so check the calendar page before you come. Game dates are not set yet. We will post them there as soon as they are confirmed, so you will have the full picture before you decide anything.
Not yet. We are starting with 12U girls, and we plan to add more age groups and boys teams over time. Tell us about your player and we will let you know when a team opens up.

We will be in touch when there is news about teams and tryouts.
