How we handle your information
Plain language, because this is about your family. If anything here is unclear, ask us.
What we collect
This website collects information only when a parent or guardian sends it to us through the registration form or the question form. For a registration, that means everything on the form: the player's name, date of birth, grade and school, and (if you give them) city and basketball experience; parent, guardian and emergency contact details; the allergy and medical notes the form asks for (you can answer "None"); your consent and certification choices; and the name you type to certify. For a question, it is your name, email address, phone number if you add one, and your message.
The forms on this site are for parents and legal guardians. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children. If you believe a child has sent us information without a parent's involvement, tell us and we will delete it.
How we use it
We use what you send us for three things: player registration, team communication and safety coordination. That is all.
- We do not sell or rent your information.
- We do not use it for advertising.
- We share it only with the SCV Magic coaches and volunteers who need it to run the team and keep players safe.
Where it goes
When you send a form, two things happen:
- The details are emailed to the SCV Magic team member who handles registrations, and they stay in that email inbox for as long as the team needs them to run the season.
- A backup copy is stored privately in the team's website hosting account (Amazon Web Services), as a safeguard in case an email goes missing. The backup is not public and is deleted automatically after about 13 months. The same account passes the email along to that inbox and keeps its own copy of it for 30 days.
The website's own activity logs record only that a form was sent. They never include your family's details.
Cookies and tracking
This site does not use advertising cookies, analytics trackers or social media pixels. The fonts and images are served from our own site. Links to Google Maps and Google Calendar open those services, which have their own privacy policies.
Photos and video
The registration form asks every family for photo and video permission, and the team requires it to take part. It covers photos and video from team activities, used on the SCV Magic website and official social media accounts. If you have a concern about a specific photo of your child, tell us and we will take it down.
Apart from our team photo, the basketball photos on this site are stock photography for now. The people in those stock photos are not SCV Magic players. Herman's main picture on the Coaches page is his own photo, taken with his daughter. Lelanie's and Bobby's main pictures are illustrations of them. The small "Back in the day" photos on the Coaches page are real: they show our coaches and team manager playing when they were young, and they shared them with us.
Seeing, fixing or deleting your information
You can ask us at any time what information we hold about your family, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Send a note through the question form and we will take care of it.
